Record demand Ideal Heating CPD Surveying the modern plant room

Just weeks after its release, we are pleased to have received an unprecedented level of requests to present our latest CIBSE-approved CPD ‘Surveying the modern plant room - from boilers to heat pumps’.  It seems this new CPD resonates with customers nationwide, meeting a genuine need for practical information on today’s plant room as we move towards a low carbon future envisioned by net zero.

‘Surveying the modern plant room - from boilers to heat pumps’ CPD provides practical advice on the various stages involved in surveying a plant room; from assessment and the requirements for a replacement heat source, through to the potential risks associated with heating system replacement and how to identify these.

From the feedback we have already received, the key to the success of this new CPD is its focus on modern, energy-efficient plant room retrofits using commercial heat pumps, such as our ECOMOD range. Hybrid systems, which include commercial heat pumps with modern condensing gas boilers as a back-up, are also addressed as an alternative solution where heat pumps alone are not feasible, which is also a major draw for engineers at all levels and fills a gap in their knowledge base.

The new CPD also looks at latest legislation and regulations, and touches on best practice when commissioning.

Although expecting this to be a popular CPD, Richard Brown, Head of Specification, has been surprised by the sheer volume of requests from customers: “as we have been expanding our CPD provision over the past couple of years, we have been receiving a growing number of bookings, but this latest addition to our CPD library has seen a huge spike in demand.  It’s a reflection on the changing nature of our industry as we move towards low carbon heating solutions, and shows the very real need for more in-depth knowledge when it comes to using commercial heat pumps and adapting plant rooms for hybrid systems, which are becoming very popular.

“I also believe part of the success behind this new CPD is that it has been written to  appeal to engineers at all levels, but also contractors and building services engineers from all disciplines not just mechanical. We are a trusted British commercial brand that has been in operation since 1906, so it's safe to say, we know a thing or two about plant rooms and commercial heating!”
