Ideal Commercial Heating joins SoPHE | EQMAX

We are pleased to have joined the Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE) as an Industrial Associate following the launch of our[HT1]  own direct gas-fired condensing water heater range called EQMAX.

As part of our involvement, we supported the SoPHE Technical Conference 2026 as a Conference Sponsor. Richard Brown, our Head of Specification, represented us at the event on 1st October at One Birdcage Walk, London.

Why have we joined SoPHE?

We have joined SoPHE as an Industrial Associate, which enables us to work with others in this field, combining our wide-ranging expertise to strengthen the public health engineering industry, through co-operation and collaboration.  It enables us to build closer relationships with public health engineers, understand their specification challenges and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.

Our membership of SoPHE reflects our move into commercial domestic hot water products. With the introduction of EQMAX direct gas-fired condensing water heaters, we now offer engineers and contractors commercial heating and domestic hot water equipment backed by the same nationwide sales, technical and aftersales support.

EQMAX  is designed for commercial buildings with significant domestic hot water requirements, including hotels, schools, hospitals and leisure facilities. Available in 10 models with outputs from 20kW to 120kW and three storage capacities, the range combines stainless steel construction with a compact footprint suited to replacement and refurbishment projects.

Bringing the public health engineering community together

As a newcomer, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to sponsor the SoPHE Technical Conference this year, the theme of which was Engineering Excellence – Safety and Resilience.

The event brought together the public health engineering community to share knowledge, challenge thinking and explore the issues shaping safer, more resilient and higher-performing systems.  The four key sessions of the day covered:

  • 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆, 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴
  • 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
  • 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – challenging established assumptions using real-world evidence
  • 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗽 - examining the gaps between design, installation and operation

For Richard, the well-attended conference offered a valuable opportunity to make new connections, including amongst SoPHE’s Young Engineers Network (YEN), and catch up with existing colleagues.

“I am looking forward to building on these conversations” he comments, “and playing an active role in the SoPHE community, supporting engineers with their commercial domestic hot water projects.”
