We are delighted to welcome Julie Wade to the Ideal Heating Commercial Specification Team. Julie joined in September 2023 and will be covering the North East, Cumbria and Scotland. The Specification Team provides valuable design assistance to building services consultants and specifiers, which is one of Julie’s key areas of expertise.
Julie’s 25 plus years’ experience has been predominantly in commercial heating, cooling and hot water, and she has worked for many of the leading companies in the industry. With this extensive knowledge Julie can provide specification solutions for controls, boilers, heat pumps, and more. “It’s important we listen to customers, and understand the project, to ensure the plant selection and specification fits the needs of the client” states Julie. “I pride myself on offering the right advice and assistance to help the engineer throughout the design and specification of the scheme. This will iron out any queries early on and ultimately result in the right product for that application. There’s never a one size fits all solution, but Ideal Heating’s extensive range of commercial products means I can provide a solution for a variety of projects.”
Despite no background in engineering, Julie discovered her passion from a relatively early age through her dad: “My dad was a plumber and I would often help him. Through this early curiosity I learned a lot. Upon leaving school I worked at British Airways and from there in to construction and the rest is history as they say.”
Julie will be covering the North East, Cumbria and Scotland in her new role, an area in which she has lived for 25 years and has subsequently developed strong relationships with a large number of consultancy practices.
Julie finds new ideas and technologies, engaging: “We never stop learning. Despite being in the business for many years , there’s always something new to master.. With the focus on Net Zero, there are new conversations to be had on embodied carbon, carbon footprints and more. The technology itself is moving at a remarkable pace.”
But this brings its challenges, as Julie is all too aware of: “probably the biggest challenge is the acceptance of change, and keeping abreast of the evolving technology. CPDs are a great way to introduce new ideas and new products and get people thinking differently. We have a library of CIBSE accredited CPDs covering an array of different subjects. Our CPDs are provided as an educational tool but are also thought provoking and will often generate lively discussions.”
