Commercial Heating Sustainability Expo | Ideal Commercial Heating

More than 130 consultants, contractors, specifiers, merchants and industry professionals joined us at Mercedes-Benz World on the 9th June for our Sustainability Expo, a day dedicated to exploring the future of sustainable commercial heating and hot water.

As part of Groupe Atlantic's ongoing commitment to supporting the industry's transition towards net zero, the event brought together expertise from Ideal Commercial Heating, Hamworthy, Clade, ACV and Keston, alongside valued partners FLEXEJ and Adey Commercial.

The event provided attendees with the opportunity to hear from industry experts, explore the latest technologies and gain valuable technical knowledge through a programme of CIBSE-approved Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars.

Why is knowledge sharing so important to the future of commercial heating?

The commercial heating sector is evolving rapidly. As building owners, consultants and contractors work towards increasingly ambitious carbon reduction targets, there is a growing need for clear, practical guidance on selecting and integrating the right technologies.

That was a key theme throughout the day. Following a welcome address from Groupe Atlantic's Darren Finley, attendees heard from Chris Caton, Product Director for Commercial at Groupe Atlantic UK, ROI and North America, who delivered a keynote presentation focused on sustainable heating and the role that hybrid systems, heat pumps and low-carbon hot water technologies will play in the future built environment.

The discussion highlighted the importance of taking a pragmatic approach to decarbonisation, recognising that many existing commercial buildings require solutions that balance carbon reduction, performance, practicality and cost.

What technical topics were covered?

Throughout the day, attendees had access to four new CIBSE-approved CPD seminars delivered by technical experts from across the Groupe Atlantic portfolio. Our own Richard Brown, Head of Specification Sales, and Michael Fraser, Specification Sales Manager, presented our latest newest CPD on Low carbon hybrid heating system considerations.

Other CPD topics included future-ready commercial domestic hot water systems, natural refrigerant heat pump technology, and the role of heat exchangers in generating hot water from air source heat pumps and hybrid systems.

Across the event, a total of 277 hours of CIBSE-approved CPD training was delivered, demonstrating the industry's appetite for practical, independent technical guidance as it navigates the transition to lower-carbon heating solutions.

Alongside the seminar programme, visitors were able to meet product specialists and explore a dedicated exhibition area showcasing the technologies from all the UK commercial companies within Groupe Atlantic.

How are heating manufacturers supporting the journey to net zero?

One of the strengths of the event was the opportunity to bring together expertise from across multiple technologies and disciplines.

In addition to product specialists, attendees were able to speak directly with members of our Research & Development team, Group Commercial Service division and Expert Academy training team. This broader approach demonstrated that successful decarbonisation requires more than products alone; it also depends on technical support, training, system design expertise and long-term service provision.

The event also provided the opportunity for attendees to get an early preview of our new commercial heating white paper, providing further insight into the role that hybrid systems can play in helping building owners reduce carbon emissions while managing cost and operational requirements.

Looking ahead

The response from attendees reinforced the value of bringing the industry together to discuss challenges, share expertise and explore practical solutions.

As the commercial heating sector continues its journey towards net zero, we remain committed to supporting customers through product innovation, technical education and collaborative events such as the Sustainability Expo.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation and supporting the industry as it embraces the next generation of sustainable commercial heating and hot water solutions.
