It is crucial for a manufacturer to be involved in a project as early as possible to ensure the design engineer and end user receives the very best solution. This is the mantra that drives the Ideal Heating Commercial Specification Sales team, who focus exclusively on providing valuable design assistance to building services consultants and specifiers.
Meet Richard Brown (Head of Specification Sales) and Michael Fraser who looks after specification in the Midlands. This highly skilled, knowledgeable duo are part of the sales team here in the Commercial division of Ideal Heating and have a combined experience of over 40 years in the HVAC market. Michael also spent a number of years working with flue design. With such a solid background this team are ideal partners to your project.
We spoke to them about what Ideal Heating can offer specifiers and how they can help.
Q: What can the Specification Sales team offer customers?
RB: We are there to help with setting specifications from the start of a project – our experience means we’ve seen a wide range of different plant room arrangements and we can use this expertise to help with new projects. Our aim is to ensure the plant selection is the right fit for each project.
We can also offer total plant room solutions working together with our sister brand ACV. Ideal Heating for boilers and HIU’s, whereas ACV can offer sizing and selection assistance for the domestic hot water provision and electric boilers.
MF: We’re also here to help boost engineer’s knowledge with three different CPDs across Ideal Heating and ACV. We can present remotely or, as things begin to get back to normal, face to face. All of our CPDs are CIBSE accredited, meaning that the content is really valuable, and all attendees attain an hour towards their annual CPD target. Our presentations are tailored towards both graduate and more experienced engineers alike.
Q: In your opinions, what makes Ideal unique?
RB: There are two main points that really stand out for customers and design engineers I talk to. The first being our heritage. For over 100 years all R&D and manufacturing has been carried out here in the UK, providing jobs and boosting the economy. Something which I am certain will become even more important over the coming years.
The second is also linked to our UK base. There are no delays in providing customers with the plant they need. A combination of our manufacturing set up and stock held with our merchant partners ensures there are no hold ups when providing customers the kit required. Our technical back up is undoubtedly the best in the industry. No two heating systems are the same. Having our own engineering teams in house, means we can offer excellent technical advice as the project design progresses.
MF: For me, I am really impressed with the service we can offer customers through their relationship with us. From the internal and external sales team through to our Customer Service call centre, not forgetting the engineers out on the road. We have a well-oiled machine that makes life easy for our customers. But as Richard already mentioned a UK based R&D and engineering team is incredibly valuable when we are looking at projects during design stage. It ensures we can respond to technical queries quickly. Afterall, the engineers who design the boilers and HIU’s are just a quick phone call away.
RB: That’s what makes us market leaders!
Q: Looking forward, the road to Net Zero has quite an impact on gas boilers. What do Ideal Heating have planned?
RB: Ideal Heating are looking at a range of solutions to the challenges that Net Zero poses us, as we believe that various technologies will enable the UK to hit its target. Our Pod HIU will launch shortly recognising the role that district heating can play in reducing emissions. More low carbon products will be introduced at the right time for the market including heat pumps and hydrogen ready solutions.
